Noggin, canoe cup, voyaguer cup, scoop

Known by many names in various regions of the old world. Before the industrial age many, if not most drinking vessels were of wood for the common people. Often carved from beautiful burls. The North American cups came to be called noggins. This noggin is just a cup of wood in foraged black cherry. It sports a paracord lanyard with a small flat spoon carved into a matching cherry toggle. Seasoned with a food safe mix of linseed oil and beeswax. Noggins were carried by the frontiersman, voyageurs and Native Americans and often worn on the belt or sash and secured with the toggle. Used as a dipper when crossing streams or paddling a canoe. Do you like to entertain the spirits? Liquid spirits? Carved to hold about four ounces or a full gill, the old sailors and soldiers rum or whisky ration. This can also be used as a scoop in the kitchen or a small hand held bowl for dinner. Sitting around the fire with friends may have just become easier.
